Consultation is detailed, targeted discussion - in person or, more likely, over the phone, or via email - about your specific marketing and copywriting challenges.

I always provide new prospects (those who have not yet purchased services) with approximately 1/2 hour of phone consultation. Beyond that, the next step may be to purchase a small block of my time in order to explore the problem space more thoroughly.

Use hourly consultation for any purpose that your business requires:

• Coaching and mentoring. Do you need to walk through the process of identifying your marketing challenges? Maybe you need to discuss how to market your product. Or you need help to formulate your "Unique Selling Proposition".
• Copy critique. If you have scattered bits of copy from various sources that you need to have reviewed, an all-in-one copy review service such as my $99 Special for small companies may not fit your needs very well. In that instance, I can perform a la carte review of your copy via email and we can work together to improve your copy.
• Small Ad Hoc Writing Assignments. Examples would include copy editing, review and improvement of online search advertising text, and other very small projects. (I deduct in minimum 15 minute increments.)
• "Brainstorm" and plan a course of action.
• Use consultation for any purpose that does not fit the boundaries of a fixed price service with a well defined deliverable.

Note on Hourly Consulting

Usually the goal of hourly consulting is to allow us (my clients and I) to work on deep analysis of their needs.

We use hourly consulting to zero in on the best approaches to your project, and then we move to a project based fixed price model for subsequent work.

However, hourly consultation may simply fit the nature of your ongoing work better than project based pricing. It's always your choice how you wish to proceed.

Policies

• Consultation by the hour is prepaid, using US check, Paypal or Intuit Payment Network (IPN.)
• No refunds or guarantees, with two exceptions. If I determine that I am not adding value to your endeavor, I will refund your funds promptly. And afterward, if you believe that I added no value to your effort, please write me a detailed letter and explain your reasoning in full, and I will refund promptly.
• Unused funds will not be refunded. However, a balance may always be applied toward a fixed price project.
